UK’s Lotto draw takes place on Wednesdays and Saturdays. One line consists of 6
main numbers between 1 and 59. To hit the jackpot all 6 numbers need to match.
A Bonus Ball is taken from the same pool of numbers after the six main balls have
been dispensed. If a line matches 5 of the main numbers plus this Bonus Ball, the
win will be £1 million.
Jackpots can go up to £20,000,000 and higher with roll-overs, plus numerous
chances to win smaller amounts. The Jackpot can roll over a maximum of five times
in a row before it must be won. If no one matches all 6 main numbers in a Must Be
Won draw, the Jackpot will be shared, so even bigger prizes will be distributed
amongst every prize winner including match 2 winners!
The overall odds of winning any prize are 9.3 to 1. The odds of winning the jackpot
are 1 in 45.057 474
The longest celebration by winners was by a pub syndicate from London who
celebrated for almost two weeks!
There are four Lotto draw machines: Arthur, Guinevere, Lancelot and Merlin. There
are also eight live sets of Lotto balls – handily numbered 1-8.
Lotto is by far the most popular draw, with around 15 to 45 million tickets sold each
draw.
