UK’s Lotto draw takes place on Wednesdays and Saturdays. One line consists of 6 main numbers between 1 and 59. To hit the jackpot all 6 numbers need to match.
A Bonus Ball is taken from the same pool of numbers after the six main balls have been dispensed. If a line matches 5 of the main numbers plus this Bonus Ball, the win will be £1 million.
Jackpots can go up to £50.000.000 and higher with roll-overs, plus numerous chances to win smaller amounts. The Jackpot can roll over a maximum of five times in a row before it must be won. If no one matches all 6 main numbers in a Must Be Won draw, the Jackpot will be shared, so even bigger prizes will be distributed amongst all cash prize winners (three and more matches)!
The overall odds of winning any prize are 9.3 to 1. The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 45,057,474.
The longest celebration by winners was by a pub syndicate from London who celebrated for almost two weeks!
There are four Lotto draw machines: Arthur, Guinevere, Lancelot and Merlin. There are also eight live sets of Lotto balls – handily numbered 1-8.
Lotto is by far the most popular draw, with around 15 to 45 million tickets sold each draw.
